With over 50 presets at their disposal, users can transform video subjects into cartoon characters, marble statues, or video game characters. They can also swap backgrounds to picturesque beaches or snow-covered landscapes. The editor offers options to add ethereal lighting effects and color overlays. While custom prompt input isn’t currently available, Meta plans to introduce this feature by year’s end.
This AI editor represents the first commercial application of Meta’s Movie Gen technology. Initially released as a research tool in 2024, Movie Gen garnered attention for its strikingly realistic outputs. Beyond editing existing footage, the technology boasts capabilities for video generation and photo-to-video conversion. Industry experts anticipate these features will likely be integrated into Meta’s consumer products in the near future.
The editor is currently accessible through the Meta AI app, Meta.AI website, and Edits app. Plans are in place for a gradual rollout on Instagram.
