On Tuesday, Merz Aesthetics Korea, a leading global medical aesthetics company, unveiled its new product authentication campaign, Touch Prime, for its next-generation ultrasound lifting device, Ultherapy Prime™.

The Touch Prime campaign represents a significant advancement in Merz’s commitment to ensuring safe treatment environments and enhancing quality control. This innovative program allows consumers to easily verify product authenticity with a simple smartphone touch, substantially boosting confidence and transparency throughout the treatment process.

Smartphones equipped with near field communication (NFC) technology enable users to instantly confirm product authenticity without the need for additional app installations. The use of non-replicable security NFC chips further reinforces the objectivity of the authentication process.

The Touch Prime verification process is remarkably straightforward. Users can immediately check the device’s authenticity by tapping their phone on the NFC chip attached to the Ultherapy Prime™ equipment. Following this, they can scan the QR code on the transducer (TD, tip) to access detailed authentication information via their browser.

This user-friendly procedure empowers consumers to independently verify the authenticity of both the device and transducer before treatment, significantly enhancing overall trust in the process. The authentication method is compatible with both Ultherapy Prime™ and existing Ultherapy® devices.

Building a Trust-Based Environment for Ultrasound Lifting Treatments

Ultherapy Prime™’s product authentication campaign has been a cornerstone of the brand’s integrity efforts for a decade, having launched in 2016. The original program, Ultherapy® from the Start, pioneered consumer-driven authenticity verification by allowing users to scan QR codes on clinic-issued stickers through a dedicated app.

This initiative marked a significant step in empowering consumers to verify the authenticity of medical devices, which can be challenging to assess visually, thereby fostering a trust-based treatment environment. Building on this foundation, the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Certified Hospital campaign, introduced in 2024, further enhances transparency by partnering with clinics for responsible disposal of used tips and verification of authentic product usage.

Ultherapy Prime™, building on the clinical legacy of Ultherapy®, is an advanced ultrasound lifting medical device (MFU-V) featuring real-time imaging capabilities.

Its standout feature, the proprietary DeepSEE™ technology, allows real-time visualization of patients’ skin layers and anatomical structures during treatment. The device utilizes three specialized transducers targeting skin depths of 1.5mm, 3.0mm, and 4.5mm, enabling more precise and safer treatments.
