Samsung Biologics showcased its next-generation cancer drug production technology and contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) capabilities at a global antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) event in the United States.
The company announced on Monday that it participated in the 2026 World ADC San Diego, which took place from October 12 to 15 in San Diego, California.
World ADC is a premier gathering where global ADC companies and experts share strategies for next-generation ADC development and research breakthroughs. This year’s event attracted over 1,300 attendees from more than 400 companies worldwide.
For the third year running, Samsung Biologics set up a dedicated booth, highlighting its end-to-end ADC services, from contract research (CRO) to development (CDO) and manufacturing (CMO). The company emphasized its unique ability to perform the entire ADC manufacturing process at a single site, leveraging its extensive experience in antibody drug production.
In March of last year, Samsung Biologics launched an ADC-specific production facility in Songdo, Incheon, marking its full-scale entry into the ADC CDMO market. The company offers comprehensive services, including cell line development, antibody-drug conjugation, analysis, and production. It also plans to establish a dedicated production line for ADC finished pharmaceuticals (DP) by 2027.
ADCs are innovative therapies that combine potent anticancer drugs with antibodies designed to selectively target cancer cells. This approach enhances the efficacy of traditional anticancer treatments by delivering drugs directly to cancer cells, minimizing damage to healthy tissue.
The production of ADCs involves complex processes beyond antibody manufacturing, including drug conjugation, purification, and rigorous quality analysis. As a result, CDMO firms offering integrated services from development to production are becoming increasingly crucial in the pharmaceutical landscape.
During the event, Samsung Biologics showcased its ADC technological prowess. On October 14, Mark Studer, the company’s ADC and mRNA operations team leader, presented key strategies for scaling up ADC production while adhering to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
The company’s poster presentations highlighted the development achievements of ADCs using their proprietary dual antibody platform S-DUAL and unveiled research findings from their patient-derived organoid (PDO) based drug evaluation service, Samsung Organoids.
Sang-Myung Lee, Senior Vice President of CDO development at Samsung Biologics, stated that this event allowed us to demonstrate the CDMO capabilities in meeting diverse customer needs across ADCs, dual antibodies, and organoids. It’s committed to enhancing the comprehensive service offerings by expanding into new modalities, including peptides, to strengthen the position as a leading end-to-end solution provider.
