NewJeans has stirred up excitement for their comeback by releasing content featuring all four members as they mark their fourth anniversary. Meanwhile, former member Daniel also shared an update on her current situation.
On Wednesday, NewJeans dropped a special film on their official YouTube channel and posted photos of the four-member group across their social media platforms.
NewJeans made their official debut on July 22, 2022. They’ve since dominated both domestic and international charts with hit after hit, including “Attention,” “Hype Boy,” “Ditto,” “OMG,” “Super Shy,” “ETA,” “How Sweet,” and “Supernatural.” However, the group faced a lengthy hiatus due to conflicts with their agency.
Now, celebrating their fourth anniversary, the members have reunited for the first time in nearly two years since the release of their Japanese debut single “Supernatural” in 2024.
The special film captures the members gathering one by one, starting with Minji. They’re seen smiling brightly, holding hands, and gazing off into the distance together. The release also includes personal films showcasing the daily lives of Minji, Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein, which have caught fans’ attention.
The released photos feature NewJeans’ Minji, Hanni, Haerin, and Hyein together. Their reunion after a long absence highlights the members’ more mature appearances, captivating viewers.
HYBE, NewJeans’ label and agency ADOR, stated that the members wanted to celebrate their debut anniversary with the fans who have waited so patiently. NewJeans plans to commemorate their fourth anniversary with the special film and additional content.
On the same day, former member Danielle posted a selfie on Instagram with an update for her followers. She wrote that life may sometimes blur, but the light always returns and to shine on until then, signing off with “Forever grateful, Danielle.” Danielle is currently involved in a lawsuit against ADOR for damages.
The release of official content featuring the four members, minus Daniel, has sparked intense interest in NewJeans’ comeback. ADOR told News1 that it’ll announce NewJeans’ specific activity plans once discussions with the members are finalized.
The NewJeans members, who had been in dispute with ADOR since November 2024, announced their return to the agency last November. ADOR officially confirmed that Hani had decided to return after careful consideration, following Haerin and Hyein. They noted that discussions about Minji’s future activities were ongoing.
ADOR announced they could no longer continue with Danielle as a NewJeans member or ADOR artist, terminating her exclusive contract. ADOR subsequently filed a lawsuit against Danielle for breach of contract and damages. They also sued one of Daniel’s family members and former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Min Hee-jin, holding them responsible for Daniel’s departure from NewJeans and the delays in her return.
