Lisa of BLACKPINK is continuing her global journey by making her debut at the Toronto International Film Festival with her documentary film.

Sony Music Vision has announced that LISA: BLACKPINK will have its world premiere in the Gala Presentation section of the 51st Toronto International Film Festival, scheduled from September 10 to 20.

The Toronto Film Festival, North America’s largest cinematic event, is renowned as one of the world’s top four film festivals alongside Berlin, Cannes, and Venice. The Gala Presentation section showcases films that blend popular appeal with artistic merit.

LISA: BLACKPINK is a captivating documentary that traces Lisa’s journey from her childhood aspirations to her meteoric rise with BLACKPINK and her evolution as a solo artist. Helmed by Su Kim, known for the Apple TV+ original The Last Mermaids, the film offers an intimate look at Lisa’s year-long solo venture beyond BLACKPINK.

The documentary promises to reveal Lisa’s struggles with anxiety and pressure as she builds her brand and prepares for BLACKPINK’s comeback.

Lisa has been making waves on the international stage. She recently collaborated with Anitta and Rema on “Goals,” a track for the 2026 International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) World Cup official album. Her performance at the World Cup opening ceremony in Los Angeles on July 12 also garnered significant attention.

With Lisa’s documentary set to premiere at this prestigious film festival, speculation is mounting about her potential red carpet appearance.

Since her debut with BLACKPINK in August 2016, Lisa has become a global K-pop phenomenon, delivering chart-topping hits like “Whistle,” “Boombayah,” “Playing with Fire,” “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” “Kill This Love,” “How You Like That,” and “Pink Venom.”

Lisa launched her solo career in 2021 with the single album “LALISA,” featuring the title track and “MONEY.” Following the establishment of her agency LLOUD, she released singles “ROCKSTAR” and “NEW WOMAN,” leading up to her first full-length album ALTER EGO in 2025.

Expanding her repertoire, Lisa made her acting debut in HBO’s The White Lotus Season 3 in 2025, portraying Mook, a Thai wellness mentor.

Lisa’s next project is the Netflix film Extraction: Taigo, starring alongside Don Lee and Lee Jin Wook. Netflix has also announced her leading role in an upcoming romantic comedy inspired by Notting Hill, where she will also serve as an executive producer.
