Xdinary Heroes drummer Gun-il (28) has exited the boy band following a personal scandal. The fallout from this controversy has led to the cancellation of the group’s scheduled appearance at Japan’s Summer Sonic 2026 festival.
On Thursday, organizers of the Summer Sonic 2026 music festival took to their official social media platforms to announce the cancellation of Xdinary Heroes’ performances.
The festival organizers stated that Xdinary Heroes were slated to perform in Tokyo on August 14 and in Osaka on August 16. However, at the request of their agency, these appearances have been canceled. It extends the sincere apologies to fans who were anticipating these shows and ask for your understanding in this matter.
They further added that no replacement acts will be scheduled in place of Xdinary Heroes. It also kindly request the understanding that ticket refunds will not be issued due to this cancellation.
The controversy erupted when an individual claiming to be Gun-il’s ex-girlfriend, identified as A, shared a post on an online community forum. In her allegations, A claimed that Gun-il had made disparaging remarks about fans and voiced complaints about his agency. She also released an audio recording purportedly featuring Gun-il. The situation quickly escalated as these claims spread rapidly across online platforms.
In response, on Thursday, JYP Entertainment announced Gun-il’s departure from the group. The agency stated that it has carefully considered the gravity of the situation concerning member Gun-il and have held extensive discussions with the artist. Consequently, it has mutually agreed to terminate his contract, as it has become evident that his continued participation in group activities is no longer feasible.
The statement continued that it hereby announce that Gun-il has officially left Xdinary Heroes and concluded his activities with the group. We sincerely apologize to fans for this unexpected news. The agency also confirmed that Xdinary Heroes will continue as a five-member ensemble.
Xdinary Heroes, a six-member boy band, made their debut in 2021. Throughout their career, they have released popular tracks such as “Freakin’ Bad,” “Break the Break,” “Test Me,” and “Night of Fireworks.” Following Gun-il’s departure, the group will now move forward as a quintet.
