Actor Kim Soo Hyun is making waves with his return to the spotlight, kicking off with international engagements before stepping back onto the Korean stage. In a recent candid interview, he expressed contentment with his career choice and hinted at future roles, sparking renewed interest in his upcoming acting projects.
On Tuesday, Indonesian broadcaster RCTI shared an exclusive interview with Kim on their official social media platforms. This follows his appearance as a special guest on RCTI’s 37th anniversary live special, “Mahakarya RCTI 37,” marking his first public appearance in about 18 months.
During the interview, Kim reflected on his career, stating that he believes he’s made the right decision becoming an actor. He playfully suggested taking fan recommendations for future roles, adding a touch of audience engagement. The star also shared personal tidbits, naming Bali as a dream vacation spot, and showcased some of his prized possessions. While appearing slightly leaner than in his previous outings, Kim’s signature charm remained intact, maintaining a warm and cheerful demeanor throughout.

Following his international comeback, Kim is set to grace Korean events this month. He’s slated to present at The Fact Music Awards on September 19 and will attend the Asia Artist Awards 2026 (AAA 2026) at Kaohsiung National Stadium on December 5-6.
Kim’s global activities continue to gain momentum. On October 2, he’ll host a fan meeting at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena in the Philippines, expected to draw around 20,000 attendees. This large-scale event, featuring talks, performances, and interactive segments, follows his Indonesian appearance, signaling a robust return to the entertainment scene.
Recent legal matters surrounding Kim have seen positive resolutions. After a year-long investigation, police cleared him of child welfare violation allegations related to the late Kim Sae-ron. In a related development, Kim Se-yi, who persistently raised questions about Kim’s relationship with the underage actress, has been indicted for defamation.
Kim also scored a win in civil court. On August 27, a judge dismissed Swiss watch brand Mido’s lawsuit against Kim’s agency, Goldmedalist, which sought the return of approximately 570 million KRW (418,000 USD). This verdict, favoring Kim, could set a precedent for other ongoing advertiser lawsuits totaling around 10 billion KRW (about 7.33 million USD).
As Kim resumes his public appearances, attention turns to the fate of the Disney+ series “Knock Off.” Production was halted last year amid controversies, and its future remains uncertain. With Kim’s career regaining momentum, decisions regarding this partially filmed project are eagerly anticipated.
Kim’s comeback trajectory spans international events, advertising campaigns, fan meetings, and now extends to domestic award shows. His recent statement about loving his profession and desire to take on fan-favorite roles has intensified speculation about his next on-screen project.
