Kim Ji Won Makes a Comeback as Brilliant Surgeon in “Dr. X”
SBS unveiled the first teaser trailer for its upcoming Friday-Saturday drama “Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia” (hereafter “Doctor X”) on Monday. The series is penned by Byun Sung-geun and helmed by director Lee Jeong-rim.
“Doctor X” is a gripping medical noir that follows Dr. Kye Soo-jung, a surgical prodigy who fearlessly tackles systemic corruption with her unparalleled skills in the operating room. Kim Ji Won steps into the shoes of the formidable Dr. Kye.
The teaser opens with a riveting scene of Dr. Kye, the dark hero genius surgeon, assertively declaring that she will perform the surgery, while donning a surgical mask. Her commanding presence immediately captivates viewers.
The footage then cuts to a striking image of Dr. Kye, clad in a sleek black leather coat, confidently striding through a sea of white-coated doctors. Her cold, detached demeanor, unfazed by the stares of her colleagues, exudes the powerful aura of a dark hero genius surgeon.
In a particularly intense moment, Dr. Kye confronts a patient with a chilling question: “Decide now. Do you want to die in a month or in a hundred years?” Her unwavering declaration, “I do not fail,” sets the tone for this high-stakes medical noir.
“Doctor X” is generating significant buzz as the first medical drama to occupy SBS’s prime Friday-Saturday slot, known for its string of hit shows. Adding to the excitement is Kim Ji Won’s return to the small screen after a two-year hiatus following her breakout role in the 2021 tvN sensation “Queen of Tears.” Fans are eagerly anticipating Kim’s transformation into this entirely new character.
The series is set to premiere on October 9.
