Song Kang and Lee Jun Young’s reunion in “Four Hands, Two Sonatas” has led to a significant surge in viewership ratings.
Nielsen Korea reports that the sixth episode of tvN’s weekend drama “Four Hands, Two Sonatas” (written by Shin Yi-won and directed by Park Hyun-seok), which aired on September 13, achieved a 7.3% viewership rating (based on nationwide paid households). The show, which debuted with a 3.4% rating, had been maintaining ratings in the 4-5% range before hitting its personal best with the sixth episode, capturing audience attention.
In this episode, Kang Bi-o (Song Kang) finally locates Choi Jeong-yo (Lee Jun Young), who mysteriously vanished nine years ago during an international competition. The unexpected discovery of Choi participating in a conducting competition leaves everyone astonished.
Now 27, Kang Bi-o has become a renowned pianist, consistently selling out performances. However, the lingering effects of Choi Jeong-yo’s disappearance continue to haunt him, despite the years that have passed.
Although Choi Jeong-yo is presumed dead, Kang Bi-o starts experiencing hallucinations of him. During a concert, Kang spots Choi’s apparition in the audience, causing him to falter mid-performance. This incident triggers a severe creative block, making it challenging for him to even approach the piano, plunging him into the worst slump of his pianistic career.
While aimlessly wandering through the Czech Republic, Kang Bi-o is frozen in his tracks when he hears a familiar melody at a conducting competition he stumbles upon. To his shock, he discovers that Choi Jeong-yo, long thought dead, is actually there. This revelation raises intriguing questions about Choi’s whereabouts and experiences over the past nine years.
