Greta Gerwig is set to bring the birth of The Chronicles of Narnia to life on the big screen.
On Wednesday, the team behind Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew unveiled artwork and a main trailer that offer a glimpse into the origins of the Narnian world.
Slated for release in 2027, Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew, directed by Greta Gerwig, is a fantasy adventure that follows two children who accidentally enter a magical realm. There, they encounter the White Witch and Aslan, the great lion who created Narnia, setting the stage for an epic journey and the beginning of a legendary tale.
This film adapts the first chronological story in C.S. Lewis’s seven-book series “The Chronicles of Narnia,” depicting the creation of Narnia – a narrative that has not been explored in previous film adaptations.
The newly released artwork provides the first look at the film’s mesmerizing fantasy world. The main trailer showcases neighbors Digory and Polly as they enter an unfamiliar realm through Uncle Andrew’s magical ring. The vast, otherworldly landscapes and mysterious beings they encounter signal the start of their extraordinary adventure.
The film will also depict the birth of Narnia through Aslan’s song and introduce Jadis, who later becomes the infamous White Witch. Fans can expect to learn the origins of Narnia’s iconic lamppost and the story behind the magical wardrobe.
Greta Gerwig, known for directing critically acclaimed films such as Lady Bird, Little Women, and Barbie, helms this project. The star-studded cast of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew includes David McKenna, Beatrice Campbell, Emma Mackey, Carey Mulligan, Daniel Craig, and Meryl Streep.
