North Korea is focusing on children’s nutrition by distributing a guidebook on managing children’s nutrition nationwide.

Rodong Sinmun, the Worker’s Party newspaper, reported on the 3rd that the Children’s Nutrition Management Research Institute of the Medical Research Institute is “dedicating wisdom and passion to realize the scientific management of children’s nutrition” and has created and distributed a Children’s Nutrition Management Guidebook across the country.

The guidebook reportedly contains information on feeding children more than ten different types of food every day. Although no specific details were provided, it appears to be a balanced diet plan designed to ensure that children in their growth period can consume essential nutrients from food.

The newspaper also reported that the institute is not only distributing the guidebook but also conducting a project to dispatch researchers to places like Kujang County, Kaechon City, and Chungsan County to ensure strict compliance with its content.

These researchers have conducted lectures on nutrition and hygiene management at a nursery for childcare workers. Reports indicate that researchers visiting Kaechon City have provided ways to improve the quality of dairy products.

Childcare workers at a nursery in Sinuiju have built new buildings to guarantee the necessary conditions to provide food for children’s nutrition management. They boasted that all the children in the daycare center had exceeded the standard height and weight.

Following its policy of prioritizing future generations, North Korea has been implementing childcare policies, including the free supply of dairy products, and is focusing on promoting its achievements. This guidebook focuses on dairy products and shows attention to children’s daily intake.

Meanwhile, North Korea has received a lot of criticism from the international community about children’s malnutrition. Accordingly, there seems to be an aspect of focusing on childcare policy and promoting its achievements.
