North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un exchanged congratulatory messages with the President of Laos on the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two socialist-friendly countries.

North Korea’s Workers’ Party media, Rodong Sinmun, showcased the strong ties between the two countries by publishing the messages on the front page on June 24. Kim expressed his confidence that “the friendly and cooperative relationship will be further strengthened and developed in the future.” Also on the front page, the newspaper reported on the bumper crops of wheat and barley in Sunchon County, Mundok County, and Sinpyong County. The newspaper reported that “in every rural area in the county, there is a strong belief that they can harvest more than 3 tons per acre of wheat than last year.”

On the second page, an article titled “On the Path to the Development of National Science and Technology” emphasized the importance of science and technology. Another article, “The Ideal Society We Need to Build,” promoted the socialist system by sharing an anecdote about Kim Il Sung participating in a debate on world revolution history in 1926.

On the third page, the media reported the housewarming parties held in Yeombun-ri, Kyongsong County, Chilhyang-ri, Orang County, and Phalgyongdae-ri in North Hamgyong Province. It also covered the sports event held at Mangyongdae Revolutionary School from June 17 to 23.

The fourth page highlighted the patriotic tradition of the Kangdong Power Construction Union Enterprise, introducing its history and stating that “every unit has a tradition of patriotism and a proud generation.” As the 74th anniversary of the Korean War approached, it also intensified anti-American sentiment with the phrase “a vow of revenge to be kept even firmer through generations.”

The fifth page showcased scientific and technological achievements, including the development of poultry farming, the introduction of cement waterproofing agents, and research on treatment methods using bioactive glass ceramics. The same section emphasized scientific farming. It reported that Pihyon County in North Korea introduced a ground cover cultivation method this year, securing a multi-crop guarantee for about 900 acres of farmland.

On the sixth page, anticipating the 74th anniversary of the Korean War, it published the fourth part of the series The U.S. is the Provoker of the Korean War and criticized the U.S.

Another article titled “To Defend the Country’s Sovereignty and Security” reported that the Russian Pacific Fleet began bilateral military exercises from June 18 to 28.
