Rodong Sinmun reported on July 5 that North Korea is undertaking organizational political operations for the latter half of the year, after the 10th plenary meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party (held from June 28 to July 1).
The newspaper announced, “Let’s firmly pledge our allegiance to achieving victory this year.” It was also reported that various sectors and units of the national economy, including metals, steel, mining, and light industry, have completed their plans for the first half of this year.
On page two, news included updates on construction at Eun Jung Nam Sae Vegetable Farm and Du Heung Nam Sae Farm. There were also reports that North Korea’s resident international organization representatives laid floral baskets at the statue of President Kim Il Sung on Mansudae Hill in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of his passing on July 8.
On page three, it was reported that meetings commemorating the 30th anniversary of Kim Il Sung’s death were held by labor class and mass organizations, as well as by female workers and members of the women’s union. They praised Kim Il Sung for his unwavering commitment to guiding the people with the motto “Single-Minded Unity” and leading the local leadership for the people tirelessly.
Page four reported on various party decisions and activities in different regions. It was stated that Unsan County is focusing on the establishment of paper raw material forests, Kangso District is emphasizing raw material-based farming, and Hamju County is dedicated to afforestation projects. The newspaper also mentioned that many workers are utilizing remote education to accumulate knowledge while working.
On page five, the newspaper urged vigilance ahead of the monsoon season, emphasizing that “irresponsibility and negligence can result in damage to farmland and crops, leading to a decline in grain production.” It also called for prompt, scientifically precise weather forecasts from the meteorological and hydrological sectors.
A completion ceremony took place at the Hyesan Student Shoe Factory in Ryanggang Province. On July 4, a delegation from the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security, which had visited Pyongyang on June 29, departed back to their homeland.
Page six highlighted “the increasing global disasters due to abnormal weather patterns,” emphasizing the flood damages occurring worldwide as a result of severe climate change. It also reported the outbreak of African Swine Fever in South Korea.
