North Korea praised Kim Jong Un, its leader, for visiting flood-stricken areas in Uiju County last week, describing it as “an expression of the great father’s genuine love and affection.”

Rodong Sinmun, the state-run media, reported in its front-page editorial titled Let’s Build a People’s Paradise in the Disaster Areas with the Burning Love and Affection of Our Great Father. The article stated, “Even at this moment, Comrade General Secretary is contemplating what more can be done for his beloved people, continuing his journey of devotion to the people.”

It further emphasized the importance of embracing the noble intentions of the Party Central Committee to achieve miraculous victories in recovery efforts, showcasing the nation’s strength and invincibility to the world.

On the second page, the newspaper reported on Kim’s interactions with the residents of Uiju County. He comforted them by holding their hands and announced that 15,000 flood victims would be cared for in Pyongyang. The residents reportedly responded with remarks such as “We are the people whom the leader of the world envies” and “With our leader, we have nothing to fear, no matter what disaster or crisis befalls us.”

On the third page, Party officials pledged to uphold Kim’s people-first ethos as they carry out recovery efforts, declaring, “We will wholeheartedly serve the people.” Another article noted that the People’s Army and the Baekdu Mountain Hero Youth Shock Brigade are actively involved in restoring roads and bridges and clearing land to improve mobility.

On the fourth page, the newspaper encouraged residents to embody the spirit of anti-Japanese fighters, urging them to “be loyal to the revolution like the anti-Japanese heroes and love your country and future.” It also provided updates on constructing new homes in Yeonho-ri and Seolbong-ri in Gosan County.

The fifth page emphasized the critical need for effective water management. It advocated for creating a national-level water management system and stressed the importance of regional systems for residential water supply, flood response, drought management, and disaster preparedness. The page also reported North Korean Ambassador Dong Chol Ho’s farewell visit to Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.

The sixth page featured an article critiquing capitalist societies. Titled “What Does the Fierce Competition for Profit Lead To?,” the piece argued that “Capitalists spare no effort or means to secure profits for their expanded capital” and added, “The more intense the competition for capital profits, the more it inevitably leads to extreme wealth disparity.”
