North Korea has condemned South Korea, claiming that despite the South Korean president facing legal troubles, the U.S.-ROK alliance continues to target Pyongyang and bolster its defense capabilities under an acting government.

On Friday, North Korea’s state-run newspaper Rodong Sinmun criticized Seoul’s Ministry of National Defense for planning to increase the number of brigade-level field exercises with U.S. forces this year compared to last. The paper asserted, “As political turmoil intensifies in South Korea, so does the frenzy of confrontation against our Republic.”

The article also raised concerns about South Korea’s ongoing military expansion, noting efforts to acquire maritime operation helicopters and accelerate the deployment of special operations attack and reconnaissance drones.

Rodong Sinmun condemned Seoul, stating, “Washington demands that they remain steadfast in their role as shock troops for realizing U.S. hegemonic strategy. Even as their house crumbles, these puppets must obey their master’s orders—such is their pitiful fate.”

The paper further condemned the U.S.-South Korea alliance, warning that while the situation reflects the “foolish actions of a dim-witted master and its subservient lackey,” North Korea cannot ignore the threat posed by its adversaries.

The article also warned Washington: “The U.S. must face the reality of its changing adversaries and the world and cease its foolish provocations that may lead to its own demise.”

Concluding its report, Rodong Sinmun asserted that the current situation “proves a million times over the justness of our firm position that we must crush our enemies by strengthening our defense capabilities,” emphasizing the legitimacy of enhancing North Korea’s military expansion.
