A North Korean Workers’ Party delegation visiting China held talks with the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs of the Communist Party of China to discuss cooperation. Following the delegation’s dispatch, North Korea has diligently reported on the consecutive meetings between high-level officials of North Korea and China.

On the 26th, the Rodong Sinmun reported that Kim Song Nam, the head of the Workers’ Party delegation and the Director of International Affairs, had a conversation on the 23rd with Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the CCP Central Committee and the Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs.

Members of the Workers’ Party delegation, the North Korean Ambassador to China, the Deputy Minister of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Deputy Director of the International Liaison Department of the CCP Central Committee, among others, attended the conversation.

Director Kim emphasized that “in the year of North-China friendship, the foreign affairs departments of both parties and countries will contribute to strengthening bilateral relations by ensuring that various and rich exchanges and cooperative projects planned between the two sides yield excellent results.”

Director Wang also stated, “Protecting, solidifying, and developing the precious treasure of North-China friendship, forged in blood, is the unwavering stance and will of the Chinese party, government, and people. China will continue to strengthen strategic communication and tactical cooperation with North Korea on the international stage, firmly safeguard the common interests of the two parties and two nations’ peoples, and develop North-China friendship.”

Since arriving in China on the 21st, the North Korean Workers’ Party delegation has actively engaged with high-level officials to strengthen cooperation with China.

The delegation has held meetings with several Chinese officials, including Wang Huning, the Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference; Liu Jianchao, the Director of the CCP’s International Liaison Department, who is a likely candidate for the next Foreign Minister; and Cai Qi, the Secretary of the Central Secretariat of the CCP and a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau.
