North Korean leader Kim Jong Un visited a hospital construction site in Kusong, urging officials to bolster construction capabilities.
The Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the Workers’ Party of Korea, reported on Tuesday that Kim inspected the hospital construction site in Kusong the previous day. He toured various areas of the site, meticulously examining the construction progress. Party officials Jo Yong Won, Ri Hi Yong, Kim Jae Ryong, and Kim Yong Su accompanied him during the visit.
According to the newspaper, Kim emphasized that the construction sector represents a vital front symbolizing the nation’s steady progress and development. He stressed the urgent need to establish a system that would qualitatively expand and strengthen the country’s construction capabilities.
Kim pointed out that despite the party’s deployment of substantial manpower to construction sites nationwide, construction efficiency remains compromised due to a lack of professionalism and inexperience in construction management and leadership.
He called for immediate national measures to enhance the quality of construction capabilities, with a focus on training skilled workers. Kim directed officials to organize intensive training sessions to improve the practical skills of construction personnel at all levels.
Notably, Kim emphasized the crucial importance of enhancing technical capabilities for equipment assembly. He proposed reviewing the establishment of specialized medical equipment assembly facilities and stressing the need to increase mechanization and modernize construction equipment as key tasks.
Earlier, North Korea announced plans to construct pilot hospitals in Kangdong County, Ryonggang County, and Kusong this year as part of its Local Development 20X10 Policy. On June 2, Kim visited the hospital construction site in Kangdong County, underscoring the importance of healthcare system development and demonstrating his keen interest in the hospital construction projects.
