North Korea is already in full swing, preparing for the autumn harvest. This early preparation appears to be aimed at securing achievements in the agricultural sector ahead of the 80th anniversary of the Workers’ Party’s founding and the upcoming 9th Party Congress.

On Tuesday, the Workers’ Party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, published an article titled “Let’s Prepare for the Autumn Harvest with Foresight.” The piece emphasized that the success of the year’s agricultural output largely depends on how thoroughly the harvest preparations are made. It stressed that while all agricultural workers and laborers are well aware of this, the crucial issue is when to start these preparations.

This is the first time Rodong Sinmun has mentioned the need to prepare for this year’s autumn harvest. The push for fall harvest readiness comes immediately after the completion of wheat and barley harvests in mid-July.

The newspaper emphasized that preparation is not a task that can be accomplished in a moment. It stressed that only by maintaining a forward-looking perspective and consistently working on preparations can perfection be ensured.

The article particularly highlighted the role of workers, warning against a chronic approach to this annual task. It cautioned that merely assigning tasks or summarizing results would inevitably lead to oversights. The paper urged officials to oversee their responsibilities meticulously.

The newspaper also advised that by assessing what has been accomplished and what remains to be done, and by establishing comprehensive measures in advance, it’s possible to prevent grain losses or deterioration during transportation and storage processes.
