North Korea has encouraged its officials and citizens nationwide to complete the five-year economic development plan, which is set to conclude this year.

The Workers’ Party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, emphasized on its front page on Tuesday that welcoming the glorious party congress with heightened revolutionary fervor and tangible achievements is a unique tradition of struggle for the people. It urged the completion of the five-year plan by the end of this year and called for a successful upcoming 9th Party Congress.

On page 5, the newspaper reported that to accelerate the five-year plan, scientists and technicians across the country must boldly engage in patriotic intellectual efforts and research. The article highlighted that scientific advancement directly correlates with economic development and improved living standards, emphasizing the crucial role of officials from the National Science and Technology Committee.

Page 3 featured an article titled “Learning is the Primary Process for Enhancing Party Loyalty, Revolutionary Spirit, and People-Centered Approach,” asserting that learning is the foremost task for officials to embody the party’s ideology and spirit as communist revolutionaries. It urged officials to study and internalize the party’s policies thoroughly.

Page 2 mentioned the upcoming Victory Day (the anniversary of the signing of the armistice agreement) on July 27th and highlighted the so-called “Kim Il Sung Peak,” also known as Hill 1211. The newspaper encouraged citizens to reflect on the sacred footsteps of their leader, who led the Fatherland Liberation War to victory.

Page 4 introduced a combat narrative titled “Ascending and Descending the Fiery Hill.” The article emphasized the revolutionary spirit of the victory generation to the youth and stoked animosity towards the United States.

Page 6 reported that the 25th Central Committee’s 4th meeting of Chongryon (the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan) took place in Tokyo, Japan, on July 11th. The newspaper stated that attendees pledged to unconditionally achieve the goals set for the end of the year, aiming for the Korean residents in Japan’s movement to enter a new stage of development firmly.
