On Wednesday, North Korea observed the 79th anniversary of the Gender Equality Law, seizing the occasion to call for loyalty to Kim Jong Un, the General Secretary of the Workers’ Party.

The party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, reported on Page 2 that indeed, July 30, 1946, marked a rebirth for women, who had withered under the many humiliations and contempt of feudal customs and colonial rule.

The newspaper declared that on this anniversary of the Gender Equality Law, the nation overflows with women’s boundless gratitude and unwavering vows of loyalty. Further adding that they pledge allegiance to the unparalleled leaders who ushered in a new era that values and respects women, nurturing the independence and happiness of our women.

The front page showcased construction sites across the country, including housing projects in the Hwasong district, newly established local industrial factories, and a 450-jeongbo (about 446 hectare) greenhouse farm. The paper emphasized that construction troops are accelerating their work on these projects.

Page 3 reported that a Russian delegation from the Trade, Economy, and Scientific Cooperation Committee departed from Pyongyang on Tuesday. It also mentioned that nationwide trade union officials and members were preparing for a revolutionary pilgrimage to the Mt. Paektu area. After their meeting, participants visited the Victorious Battle of Pochonbo Memorial Tower.

On page 4, the newspaper noted positive feedback from agricultural workers for the new seed coating agent Pungnyeonmo 1. It claimed that this agricultural science and technology product is currently being employed across hundreds of thousands of acres of rice fields nationwide, yielding significant benefits.

The same page spotlighted a teacher from Sariwon City High School who is instructing students with disabilities. It emphasized that the pure conscience and ardent dedication of true educators who uphold the teaching profession ensure a bright future for the nation, allowing the youth to experience the joy of sincere laughter.

Page 5 featured an article titled, Recognizing the Value of Ideas and Discoveries in a Timely Manner is the Worker’s Ability, which advised that only workers with a proper understanding of the masses and exceptional capabilities can become respected and approachable leaders. Further noting that only sectors and units led by such workers can achieve the invaluable outcomes of executing party decisions.

Page 6 included an article titled, Social Systems and the Fate of Women, arguing that the stark contrast between the subjugated lives of women in capitalist, rotten and diseased societies and the fulfilling lives of the women in a society that respects them highlights the inestimable value of the socialist system.
