North Korea has condemned the U.S.-Japan alliance, asserting that it has transformed into a nuclear alliance that endangers regional stability.

On August 1, the Workers’ Party newspaper Rodong Sinmun published an article attributed to international affairs analyst Ri Myong-nam, stating that Japan has long misled global public opinion with its rhetoric about a peace constitution and an exclusively defense-oriented policy. However, its routine engagement with U.S. nuclear bases and participation in extended deterrence drills—which normalize the use of American nuclear weapons—clearly demonstrate that the U.S.-Japan military alliance has effectively evolved into a nuclear alliance, he added.

The newspaper stressed that Japan, as the world’s only victim of atomic bombings, is recklessly courting self-destruction by aligning itself with its ally’s nuclear hegemony strategy, seemingly forgetting the painful lessons of its past.

On the front page, Rodong Sinmun reported that the Chollima Tile Factory increased production by 600,000 square meters (about 6,458,000 square foot) compared to the same period last year. It also highlighted the Academy of Agricultural Science’s commitment to supporting grain production targets through scientific advancements, and noted that the Agricultural Informatization Research Institute is developing a comprehensive command-support system for water management.

Page 3 spotlighted educators from Ryongnamsan who developed a groundbreaking history course on Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il. The article praised their efforts, stating that defending, upholding, and inscribing the achievements of the leader (Kim Il Sung) for future generations has become the most honorable and sacred duty of the country’s citizens, thereby underlining the significance of preserving historical legacy through education.

An article titled, One Step Replaces Ten Steps, on page 4 extolled the benefits of cooperative research in enhancing factory efficiency and technological capabilities.

In a related piece, the technical development chief of the Munchon Coal Mine underscored the importance of competition, stating that rather than merely balancing production over a fixed period, it is crucial that every moment of production activity contributes to balanced progress and harmonious advancement. Further noting that the key to achieving this is through socialist competition.
