North Korea has accused the U.S. of instigating a tariff war that is unsettling the global economy, while at the same time deploying nuclear strategic attack assets around the Korean Peninsula and heightening military tensions.

The official newspaper of the Workers’ Party, Rodong Sinmun, stated on August 24 in its international news section that the trade war instigated by the U.S. is substantially disrupting the global economy. The paper further noted that, more critically, peace and security in various regions and globally are deteriorating into crisis. It specifically pointed out that the U.S. is persistently deploying nuclear strategic attack capabilities on the Korean Peninsula and bolstering its military alliance with South Korea and Japan, thereby exacerbating the military-political situation in the Asia-Pacific region.

The newspaper’s front page emphasized that the party’s revolutionary efforts represent a transformational struggle to fast-track the comprehensive resurgence of the state, urging citizens to promptly fulfill the party’s objectives. It notably highlighted the party’s policy achievements, such as the recently completed Wonsan-Kalma Coastal Tourist Zone and the Pyongyang General Hospital, along with newly built housing and local industrial factories throughout the country. The paper asserted that it must carry out the sacred mission entrusted to them by the times and the revolution to the very end.

Page 2 promoted the party’s commitment to ushering in a new era of health revolution, actively supporting the development of medical science and technology while ensuring healthcare services for the people. Further, it has been reported that the Myohyangsan Medical Appliances Factory is operating more vigorously than ever before.

According to the newspaper, they visited Mansu Hill to pay their respects to the statues of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, laying flower bouquets in tribute.

Page 4 announced that the State Hydro-Meteorological Administration has forecast continuous rainfall until August 29, due to the influence of the monsoon front and a low-pressure system. It advised residents that hazardous weather conditions will persist, urging them to remain vigilant and prepared.

Page 5 reported that the Pyongyang Ice Rink has recently completed modern renovations, showcasing photos of the refurbished facility. This rink, originally built in December 1981 to commemorate Kim Il Sung’s 70th birthday, reopened on August 14 after undergoing renovations in celebration of the country’s liberation 80th anniversary this year.
