The South Korea Army’s VII Maneuver Corps is set to conduct large-scale field movement exercises from October 15 to 24 across 13 cities and counties in Gyeonggi, Gangwon, and North Chungcheong provinces.

This massive training operation will involve a significant deployment of personnel and equipment, including tanks, armored vehicles, and other military assets.

The exercises will take place on major highways and local roads spanning 13 municipalities: Yangju, Pocheon, Dongducheon, Namyangju, Yangpyeong, Gapyeong, Yeoju, and Icheon in Gyeonggi Province; Hongcheon, Hoengseong, and Wonju in Gangwon Province; and Chungju and Eumseong in North Chungcheong Province.

In preparation for the main event, the unit will pre-position tanks, armored vehicles, and other military equipment in the training areas across Gyeonggi, Gangwon, and North Chungcheong provinces during two separate deployment phases: Monday to Tuesday and October 10-14.

A spokesperson for the VII Maneuver Corps stated that the movement of substantial military forces, including tanks and armored vehicles, may lead to traffic disruptions, increased noise levels, and dust in the vicinity of the training areas. They strongly advise civilians to maintain a safe distance from military equipment and refrain from attempting to overtake military vehicles. They kindly request the public’s understanding and cooperation, including the use of alternative routes during this critical training period.

To mitigate civilian inconvenience, the VII Maneuver Corps will establish a field control center staffed with safety control and civilian liaison teams. Additionally, a dedicated complaint hotline will be set up to address residents’ concerns. The Corps will also coordinate with local law enforcement to operate joint military-police traffic control points along major roadways.
