As October begins, North Korea is intensifying its propaganda efforts surrounding the 80th anniversary of the Workers’ Party’s founding, showcasing its self-reliant national defense and self-sufficient economy.

On Wednesday, the Rodong Sinmun, the official mouthpiece of the Workers’ Party, published an article titled, The Great Cause of the Workers’ Party Will Continue to Triumph Endlessly. The piece lauded the party’s 80-year history as one of progress and victory, driven by the power of truth inherent in the great Juche ideology, which serves as its sole guiding principle.

The newspaper asserted that President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il consistently provided scientifically based strategies rooted in Juche ideology at each stage of revolutionary development. This, they claim, enabled the party to march steadily along the path to victory without any missteps, deviations, or setbacks.

Highlighting the past decade under Kim Jong Un’s leadership, the article portrayed it as an era of relentless pursuit and active implementation of new strategies tailored to the rapidly changing global landscape and evolving revolutionary needs.

The Rodong Sinmun painted a grim picture of the current global situation, describing it as the most turbulent and violent period since World War II. It cited imperialist tyranny, reckless arrogance, and coercion as primary factors while emphasizing that U.S.-led nuclear threats and political-economic pressure against North Korea have reached unprecedented levels.

Despite these challenges, the newspaper boasted of maintaining national strength through: △ A self-reliant national defense doctrine that ensures perpetual national prosperity and generational security; △ An ambitious national development strategy aimed at creating an earthly paradise where citizens can enjoy a cultural renaissance for generations; and △ Policies focused on nurturing children as the future pillars of society.

The article underscored North Korea’s resilience, claiming that even in the face of oppressive actions by hostile forces that would cripple other nations, the country has built a robust foundation for sustained self-reliant economic growth. It emphasized that by prioritizing self-respect and self-defense, the party and state have elevated military prowess to unprecedented levels, safeguarding national sovereignty and interests in an increasingly aggressive imperialist world.

This propaganda piece aims to reaffirm North Korea’s achievements in defense and the economic sectors under its policy of independence, self-reliance, and self-defense. It also reiterates the regime’s commitment to improving living standards and nurturing future generations. As the party’s founding anniversary approaches, North Korea is expected to ramp up efforts to promote its supreme leader and political system, likely continuing through year-end to reinforce public unity.
