Kim Jong Un, the General Secretary of North Korea’s Workers’ Party, responded to Chinese President Xi Jinping’s congratulatory message on the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers’ Party.
On Thursday, the party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, reported that Kim had sent this response to President Xi the previous day.
Kim stated that he expresses his gratitude for the warm congratulations and heartfelt wishes extended on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Workers’ Party of Korea. He added that during this October celebration, they once again felt the special friendship and unwavering support from Comrade General Secretary, as well as the Chinese Party and people, towards our party and nation.
He continued by stating that it remains the steadfast position of the party and government to uphold the tradition of North Korea-China friendship and cooperation, and to further strengthen and develop it in accordance with the demands of the new era.
Kim emphasized that by actively promoting the development of North Korea-China relations, they would contribute to maintaining stability in both the region and the world.
In closing, Kim expressed his wishes for the successful implementation of the goals set forth at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, anticipating even greater achievements.
Earlier, on October 10, President Xi had sent a congratulatory message to Kim, stating that regardless of changes in the international situation, it is always the unwavering policy of the Chinese Party and government to maintain and develop the relationship between the two countries. Xi also emphasized the need to strengthen strategic communication and deepen practical cooperation between the two nations.
Recently, relations between our two countries have strengthened, as evidenced by Chinese Premier Li Qiang’s official goodwill visit to North Korea on October 9 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea. This marked the first official visit by a Chinese Premier to North Korea in 16 years, since 2009.
