North Korea has launched a scathing critique of the European Union (EU), asserting that Europe’s economic and military turmoil is rooted in an outdated and overblown delusion aimed at undermining Russia.
The official mouthpiece of the Workers’ Party, Rodong Sinmun, published an article on Monday entitled, Europe’s Self-Inflicted Security Instability, which details this perspective.
The newspaper alleged that the true objective of the European political community is to demonize Russia as a threat, isolate it, and drive European nations into an anti-Russian confrontation.
It argued that Europe’s so-called economic crisis is a direct consequence of its comprehensive sanctions and blockade against Russia following the Ukraine conflict, which resulted in the self-imposed cessation of affordable Russian energy imports.
The article further maintained that the increased military spending intended to pressure Russia comes at the expense of the social, healthcare, scientific, and educational sectors, ultimately burdening European citizens.
The newspaper concluded that any security instability in Europe is self-inflicted, asserting that the pan-European political community’s talk of continental security can only be understood as stemming from an outdated, exclusionary delusion aimed at toppling Russia.
Since the outbreak of the Ukraine conflict in February 2022, North Korea has been among the few nations openly supporting Russia. In a significant move last October, Pyongyang reportedly deployed a substantial combat force of approximately 12,000 troops to support Russian operations.
