North Korea emphasized the importance of safeguarding the authority of the Party Central Committee and implementing its directives on Saturday, highlighting the unique leadership system. This move appears aimed at concentrating power in the hands of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un and the Party while fostering unity among the population. The push comes ahead of a series of upcoming political events, including a plenary meeting of the Party and the 9th Party Congress.
The official newspaper of the Workers’ Party, Rodong Sinmun, published an article titled “Let’s Arm Ourselves Thoroughly with the Revolutionary Thought of Great Kim Jong Un.” The piece outlined the fundamental principles of Party building, stating that the primary objective is to achieve unity of thought and leadership within the Party and ensure its continuity.
The article further stressed the need to strengthen and develop the Party into a revolutionary organization with unwavering unity of thought and leadership. It called for deepening efforts to establish the Party Central Committee’s unique leadership system to a new, higher level. The ideal goal, according to the article, is to create a united body where the entire Party acts as one mind and one body with the Party Central Committee.
The newspaper emphasized that it is crucial to firmly uphold the authority of the Party Central Committee and establish a culture of thoroughly implementing its thoughts and decisions. It urged that all issues raised in Party affairs and activities should be addressed by concentrating them on the Party Central Committee. This ensures that the entire Party operates as one under the strict order and discipline of the Party Central Committee’s unique leadership, without delay.
In another article titled “The Outstanding Achievements of the Founding Generation,” the newspaper further highlighted the importance of establishing the unique leadership system.
The piece stated that defending the Party and the revolution based on the unity of thought and central leadership must be the fundamental principle guiding the thinking and activities of all Party workers. It called for strengthening efforts to thoroughly establish the unique leadership system of the Party Central Committee and transform the entire Party into a loyal entity united in thought and purpose with the Central Committee.
The article stressed that, regardless of changing circumstances or environments, Party workers must instill an unwavering faith in following the Party Central Committee’s direction. This should be the guiding principle for all their work. It urged vigilance against even minor elements that might contradict the establishment of the unique leadership system, advocating for proactive measures to prevent their emergence.
As North Korea approaches the plenary Party meeting in mid-January and the 9th Party Congress early next year, the emphasis on the unique leadership system is interpreted as a strategy to consolidate power around Kim Jong Un and the Party. This approach aims to boost loyalty and encourage the strict implementation of Party decisions.
