North Korea continues to promote the Gangwon-do spirit following the completion of the Hwayang People’s Power Plant.

The party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, published a front-page editorial on Monday titled “Let the Whole Country Learn from the Gangwon-do Spirit to Achieve Self-Reliant Prosperity.” The article asserted that the essence of the Gangwon-do spirit lies in the unconditional implementation of party policies and the understanding that individuals must forge their own paths for survival, as no one else will observe party policies on their behalf.

Page two reported that the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly recently convened to discuss and adopt the Urban Formation and Development Law, and that a related decree was issued.

The third page highlighted the economic activism of students from the Mangyongdae Revolutionary School at various coal mines across the country. It also reported on the ongoing expansion of water resources in Sariwon City, North Hwanghae Province. The provincial party committee emphasized its commitment to resolving Sariwon City’s water supply issues through a comprehensive, determined approach to expanding the water source.

The fourth page featured stories of the victorious players from the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. The newspaper lauded this as North Korea’s fourth World Cup triumph, achieved through an unprecedented two consecutive tournament wins. It hailed the victory as a testament to the indomitable spirit of the Korean people and a legendary achievement that has sent shockwaves through the global soccer community.

Page five reported that miners at Jeonam Coal Mine No. 7 had fulfilled their five-year plan by October and continue to produce dozens of tons of coal daily. In Jagang Province, numerous road sections have been renovated to meet technical standards, significantly improving their durability and aesthetic appeal.

The sixth page outlined efforts to bolster medical staff in city and county hospitals. It reported on successful training initiatives for medical personnel in Kangdong County, Yonggang County, and Kumsong City, resulting in the transfer of advanced diagnostic and treatment methods and overall skill improvement.

An article titled “Great Efforts in Cultivating Design Talent” highlighted nationwide university initiatives to develop design professionals. The piece detailed efforts to enhance faculty qualifications in design studios and organize methodical, intensive lectures to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of five-dimensional design during their foundational education, thereby elevating their expertise.
