As the year draws to a close, North Korea has emphasized patriotism and loyalty among its citizens by promoting the concept of a socialist great family.
The Workers’ Party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, published a front-page article on Monday titled, The Whole Country as a Harmonious Great Family. The piece highlighted how the nation overcame past crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, through the unity of its people. The newspaper also underscored the purported superiority of the socialist system, asserting that while the Statue of Liberty still stands in America today, that land is plagued by unceasing murder and plunder.
On Page 2, the newspaper featured an article titled, The Great Patriotic Devotion, spotlighting the humanitarian policies of Kim Jong Un, the Party’s General Secretary. It boasted that during his revolutionary career, Kim Jong Il visited over 14,290 units and traveled 1,674,610 ri (approximately 669,844 km and about 416,221 miles), including 1,567 trips by train covering 835,000 ri (approximately 334,000 km and about 207,538 miles).
The third page reported that military units are actively engaged in political work to expedite the completion of a supply factory. It urged citizens to emulate the revolutionary army’s spirit of diligence, stating to learn from the ideological work of the revolutionary army that awakens the spirit.
Page 4 highlighted the multi-part film Nation and Destiny, encouraging citizens to cultivate patriotism. The newspaper advised that if you aspire to a truly valuable life, you must ask yourself what you have sacrificed for the Party and the homeland.
The fifth page announced the construction of new sheep farms and barley sprout cultivation facilities in South Pyongan Province to support the Party’s livestock and childcare policies. The article expressed optimism, claiming that by raising sheep on a large scale, it can significantly increase the weight of dairy cows and boost milk production.
The final page reported that, in line with the new era of health revolution, medical workers nationwide are dedicating themselves to patient care. It highlighted the story of medical staff at a children’s hospital in North Hamgyong Province providing free treatment to residents. The newspaper emphasized that improving healthcare is crucial for enhancing the quality of life for the people.
