North Korea has expressed alarm over Western imperialist forces employing external information and cultural infiltration strategies, viewing them as a form of flexible warfare aimed at destabilizing their regime.

On Thursday, the ruling party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, published an article titled “The Cunning Invasion Tactics of Imperialists: Flexible Warfare.” The article referred to global conflicts and cases of state collapse and argued that their root causes lie elsewhere. According to the paper, these outcomes stem from imperialist strategies for global domination that seek to easily achieve hegemony by spreading their value system.

The newspaper claimed that imperialists are banking on ideological and cultural infiltration to destabilize people psychologically. It specifically labeled Western countries, NGOs, international exchange programs, and the internet as flexible tentacles of imperialism and tools for regime change.

The publication blamed Western interference for international conflicts, refugee crises, and social unrest in Asia and the Middle East. It pointed to color revolutions as prime examples of ideological and cultural infiltration, while also warning that the internet serves as a conduit for spreading Western values.

North Korea particularly identified the younger generation as a primary target of external ideological infiltration, revealing a sense of vulnerability. The article argued that Western nations are attempting to reshape the mindset of young people through long-term and comprehensive ideological and cultural infiltration. It claimed that the West aims to subtly influence youth, ultimately turning them into puppets acting in accordance with Western intentions.

The article further stated that, due to imperialist maneuvering, unhealthy Western cultural products are spreading across borders like malignant viruses. According to the newspaper, these influences are eroding the thoughts, spirit, lifestyles, and values of the new generation and producing numerous negative effects on society as a whole.

The newspaper warned that in this ideological battleground, any concession would result in an infringement on sovereignty and reduce people to subjugation by imperialist forces. It concluded that the strategic intentions and tactics of imperialists to influence the human psyche and realize their ambitions for global domination have remained unchanged over time.
