On Wednesday, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, after concluding his state visit to China, expressed hope that someday, the abnormal state of chaos and hostility on the Korean Peninsula will be overcome, and it will reach a day where it respects each other and coexist in mutual prosperity.

That afternoon, President Lee posted on X (formerly Twitter), stating that may the North also receive many blessings in the New Year.

He shared an article featuring a photo of two penguins embracing like close friends, with the caption “Meet Poro-Jae Myung and Poro-Jung Un.”

The article shared by President Lee highlighted the remarkable camaraderie among penguins and playfully suggested that could Poro-Jae Myung and Poro-Jung Un meet with Pororo in between? Poro-Jae Myung likely refers to President Lee, while Poro-Jung Un is believed to allude to Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea.

Later that day, President Lee arrived at Seongnam Airport around 9:37 p.m., three days after departing for Beijing on January 4. It appears he composed his X post while on the return flight.

During his summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday, President Lee reaffirmed their shared commitment to peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and requested China’s active involvement in the matter.
