North Korea recently held a series of plenary meetings for party committees nationwide to implement decisions made at the 9th Party Congress and the 1st Plenary Meeting of the 9th Central Committee.
On March 7, Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of North Korea’s ruling party, reported that expanded plenary meetings took place in Pyongyang and various provincial party committees from March 5 to 6. These meetings were overseen by members of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Politburo members, and key officials from the Central Committee.
The meetings were attended by committee members and candidate members from various provincial party committees. Officials from local party and government institutions, as well as administrative and economic agencies, were present as observers.
According to the newspaper, the meetings discussed and decided on practical measures to build upon achievements and experiences from the past five years. The focus was on making substantial progress in regional economic development and improving living standards for the population.
The meetings also outlined tasks and methods to reinforce the party’s centralized leadership system and enhance the implementation of party decisions. There was a strong emphasis on strengthening ideological work to channel the people’s patriotic enthusiasm into tangible economic achievements.
Each regional meeting addressed specific economic tasks. In major industrial areas such as South Pyongan, South Hamgyong, North Hamgyong, and Nampo, discussions centered on modernizing industrial facilities and expanding production.
Agricultural regions like South Hwanghae, North Hwanghae, and North Pyongan focused on increasing grain yield per unit of land, enhancing scientific farming practices, and establishing the material and technical foundations for livestock development.
The newspaper reported that in Gangwon, Jagang, Yanggang, and cities like Kaesong and Rason, talks revolved around leveraging regional resources and economic potential. The aim was to expand self-reliant development and achieve concrete results in improving residents’ quality of life.
Participants at the meetings expressed their commitment to fully implement the tasks set forth by the 9th Party Congress and adopted a resolution outlining future strategic goals.
