North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, accompanied by his daughter Ju-ae, visited the Pyongyang No. 60 Training Base, a facility under the direct control of the Capital Defense Corps. The Supreme Leader observed a joint tactical exercise involving infantry and tank units.

On March 20, the regime’s official newspaper Rodong Sinmun reported that the exercise focused on enhancing the coordination and combat techniques of tactical units. The drill simulated striking, raiding, and occupying enemy anti-armor defense lines, followed by a combined tank and infantry assault to exploit the initial breakthrough.

Kim highlighted that the development of core technologies for their new main battle tank took seven years. He praised the central leadership group and the National Defense Science Institute for their roles in advancing the country’s tank industry. The leader emphasized that overcoming the limitations of armored forces in night operations represents a significant leap forward in their military capabilities.

The newspaper’s third page featured accounts from families of fallen Russian soldiers deployed to the area. They expressed their conviction that the sacrifices made for the homeland would be eternally honored by the party and the people. The families believe that the enduring patriotic spirit will ensure the continued glory of their republic.

Page 4 reported on youth from Gangwon and Yanggang provinces volunteering for challenging sectors in support of recent party congress decisions. The Pyongchon District Party Committee touted its effective implementation of the Friday science and technology learning system, which aims to continuously enhance the leadership skills of party cadres.

An article on page 5, titled, The Most Rewarding Choice in Life, urged citizens to continue making patriotic choices as they did in their youth. The page also announced the start of the 2026 National Mass Sports Festival, part of the broader 2026 National Intercity Sports Competition.

The sixth page highlighted efficiency improvements in scientific research at the Electric Power Research Institute of the Ministry of Electric Power Industry. The newspaper emphasized the importance of database development, noting that research output increased by 1.5 times in 2024 compared to 2023, and 1.7 times from the previous year. This growth was presented as evidence of the officials’ effective efforts and inquiries yielding tangible results.
