North Korea and Russia reaffirmed their strategic partnership at a commemorative banquet in Moscow, marking the 77th anniversary of their economic and cultural cooperation agreement.

The North Korean embassy in Russia hosted the event on March 18 to celebrate this milestone, according to the Workers’ Party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun.

The gathering was attended by prominent Russian officials, including Alexander Kozlov, Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology, and Mikhail Degtyarev, Minister of Sports, alongside other government and parliamentary representatives. North Korea’s Acting Ambassador Ri Yong-jin and embassy staff were also present.

Attendees paid homage to Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party, by placing flower baskets and bouquets before his photographs. They also viewed multimedia presentations highlighting the accomplishments of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, as well as the progress in North Korea-Russia relations under Kim Jong Un’s leadership.

In his address, Acting Ambassador Ri emphasized that the relationship between North Korea and Russia has evolved into a comprehensive strategic partnership and an unbreakable alliance, guided by the strategic vision of both nations’ leaders. He stressed the importance of expanding practical cooperation to implement agreements reached during recent summits.

Minister Kozlov underscored the historical significance of the bilateral agreement, predicting that cooperation would expand across all sectors. Minister Degtyarev reiterated Russia’s steadfast support for North Korea’s sovereignty.

The event concluded with attendees expressing their wishes for the health of General Secretary Kim and President Vladimir Putin, while reaffirming their commitment to fostering friendly relations between North Korea and Russia.
