Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended his congratulations to Kim Jong Un on his reappointment as Chairman of North Korea’s State Affairs Commission.

According to TASS, Putin’s message, sent on Monday, praised Kim’s efforts in bolstering the friendly and allied ties between their nations.

It will continue our close cooperation to further enhance the comprehensive strategic partnership between Moscow and Pyongyang, Putin stated. Further adding that this undoubtedly serves the fundamental interests of both of their peoples.

Earlier that day, North Korea’s 15th Supreme People’s Assembly unanimously re-elected Kim as Chairman of the State Affairs Commission.

Pyongyang emphasized Kim’s role as the embodiment of the nation’s dignity and strength, reaffirming his central position in North Korea’s development and governance.

Kim has held this position since June 2016, when he was first elected at the 13th Supreme People’s Assembly. He was re-elected in 2019 at the 14th Assembly. This latest re-election aligns with North Korean constitutional provisions, which synchronize the Chairman’s term with that of the Supreme People’s Assembly.
