Major League Baseball (MLB) San Diego Padres shortstop Kim Ha Seong made hits in both doubleheader games, continuing his four-game hitting streak.

On May 21 (KST), as the starting shortstop in the second game of the 2024 Major League doubleheader against the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia, Kim recorded one hit and one steal in four at-bats.

Kim secured another hit in the first game of the doubleheader, bringing his season batting average to .216 with 37 hits in 171 at-bats.

Kim stepped up to the plate in a one-out, one-on situation in the second inning with his team trailing 0-1, but struck out on Chris Sale’s fifth pitch slider.

Kim then continued his consecutive game-hit streak in his second at-bat. In the fourth inning with two outs and his team trailing 0-2, Kim connected a center field hit off Sale’s sixth pitch, a fastball clocked at approximately 95.6 miles per hour. He then successfully stole second base, but the next batter, Jose Azocar, flew out to right field and failed to score. Kim finished the game with a fly out to right field and a ground ball to shortstop in his remaining two at-bats.

The Padres were defeated 0-3, as opposing starter Sale dominated with seven scoreless innings, allowing only five hits and striking out nine.

In the first game of the doubleheader, the Padres had come from behind to win 6-5. Kim also contributed to the team’s victory with one hit, two walks, and one run scored as the starting shortstop.
