LG CNS announced on Thursday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with AI company W&B (Weights & Biases) to enhance its agentic AI operational capabilities in Silicon Valley, USA.

Agentic AI is artificial intelligence that can make decisions and perform tasks autonomously.

On Wednesday, LG CNS and W&B agreed to jointly research and develop areas such as agentic AI technology sharing, service operations, and performance optimization.

Park Sang Yeop, CTO of LG CNS, Jin Yo Han, executive director of the AI Center, and Lukas Biewald, CEO of W&B, attended the MOU signing ceremony ceremony.

W&B, founded in Silicon Valley in 2017, is an AI company whose CEO, Lukas Biewald, is a former OpenAI employee, while CTO Shawn Lewis previously worked at Google.

W&B provides solutions for tracking and managing AI model development and verification processes. To date, it has secured approximately USD 2 billion in investments.

W&B’s solutions are used by over 1,500 companies worldwide and more than 800,000 developers, including AI firms such as OpenAI, NVIDIA, and Cohere.

LG CNS plans to enhance its agentic AI integrated service for domestic and international corporate clients. This service will comprise three phases: AX consulting, AX platform development, and AX operations. The company intends to utilize W&B’s AI solutions during the AX operations phase.

The company also aims to explore new business opportunities to secure a leading position in the agentic AI market in South Korea.

LG CNS expects that W&B’s technological expertise will bolster its own agentic AI capabilities.

An LG CNS spokesperson stated that as agentic AI technology rapidly evolves beyond generative AI, the ability to operate, optimize, and manage AI models is becoming crucial for corporate competitiveness. They noted that by collaborating with W&B, a leader in this field, they will support their corporate clients in the stable adoption and utilization of agentic AI.

Park Sang Yeop, LG CNS’s CTO, said, “We will continue to identify companies with outstanding technologies to enhance our AX technology further.”

W&B’s AI solutions include “Weave,” which evaluates and verifies the performance of large language models (LLMs) to ensure reliable AI responses, and “Models,” which facilitates data registration, fine-tuning, monitoring training status for AI model training, and checking the performance stability and security of AI models.
