TechCrunch reported on Thursday that OpenAI has bolstered ChatGPT’s deep research capabilities, allowing it to analyze GitHub codebases.

OpenAI has unveiled its first connector for ChatGPT, introducing a feature for analyzing GitHub code and engineering documents.

This feature is available to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Team subscribers and will soon be available in enterprise and educational versions. Nate Gonzalez, Head of Business Products at OpenAI, explained that Users expressed a desire for the ChatGPT deep research agent to connect to the web and internal sources.

Through the GitHub connector, developers can perform tasks such as identifying codebase structures, analyzing product specifications, and exploring API implementation methods.

OpenAI continues to expand its developer support, having released the AI-based coding tool “Codex CLI” and enhanced the code analysis features of the ChatGPT desktop app. The company has recently accelerated its foray into the coding AI market, notably acquiring the AI coding assistant Windsurf for 3 billion USD.
