Samsung Electronics has achieved a remarkable milestone in the European microwave market, securing the top spot in sales volume for the 10th consecutive year.

According to a survey conducted by market research firm Euromonitor on microwave sales across 19 European countries last year, Samsung Electronics captured a leading 12.8% market share in the overall European market.

The company’s microwaves have garnered significant acclaim from European consumers, thanks to their technology tailored to local preferences and consumer-centric designs and features.

The microwave features an innovative ceramic coating that has earned a 99.9% antibacterial certification from Hohenstein, a renowned certification body. In Hohenstein’s rigorous 18-hour antibacterial test, the product demonstrated impressive results, eliminating 99.93% of Staphylococcus and 99.99% of pneumonia-causing bacteria.

Recognizing the keen interest of European consumers in home decor, Samsung Electronics introduced the Bespoke Microwave line, available in seven stylish colors and featuring sleek glass materials. Last year, the company also launched a Wi-Fi-enabled model that seamlessly integrates with its SmartThings ecosystem.

In a collaborative effort with POSCO, Samsung Electronics developed enamel-coated steel plates with increased recycled content for use in cooking appliances, including microwaves and ovens. This eco-friendly innovation received Environmental Claim Validation (ECV) certification from UL Solutions in September of last year, validating the product’s environmental claims based on the use of recyclable materials and a reduced presence of harmful substances.

Hwang Tae-hwan, Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Digital Appliances Division, emphasized the company’s commitment to ongoing innovation, stating that it will continue to prioritize consumer-centric approaches by integrating kitchen appliances within its SmartThings platform and developing artificial intelligence (AI) solutions that adapt automatically to users’ needs.
