Samsung Electronics revealed its latest foldable smartphones—the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7—alongside the Galaxy Watch 8 series during Galaxy Unpacked 2025, held on Wednesday at the Duggal Greenhouse in Brooklyn, New York.

Located in the cultural hub of Brooklyn Navy Yard, the Duggal Greenhouse was once a 19th-century shipbuilding facility. Today, it’s used by leading luxury and fashion brands as a venue for high-profile shows and product launches. Samsung’s decision to host the Galaxy Unpacked event in Brooklyn, rather than Manhattan, reportedly aimed to highlight the bold innovation of its latest foldables, which mark a departure from previous generations.

Roughly 3,000 attendees, including global media representatives, partners, and influencers, gathered for the unveiling. The venue buzzed with anticipation as guests took photos around the event space and custom photo zones. Public figures, including former footballer Thierry Henry, were also spotted among the crowd.

The star of the show was the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which drew attention for its sleek and lightweight design. When folded, the device closely resembles a conventional bar-type smartphone, underscoring Samsung’s push to make foldables more mainstream.

Roh Tae-moon, Acting Head of Samsung’s DX Division, described the new devices as a pinnacle of innovation. He noted that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 go beyond being simple upgrades, instead setting a new standard for foldables by pushing the smartphone experience beyond traditional bar-style formats.

Following Roh’s remarks, Choi Won Joon, head of development at Samsung Electronics’ Mobile eXperience (MX) Division, took the stage to outline the technical breakthroughs behind the Fold 7. He highlighted the new Armor Flex Hinge, which enables the device to measure just 8.9mm when folded and 4.2mm when unfolded—a notable achievement in ultra-slim engineering.

Choi also introduced One UI 8, Samsung’s latest user interface designed to deliver an optimized Galaxy AI experience on foldable devices. He explained that the system integrates AI agents at a core level to redefine mobile interaction, adding that this new experience is expanding into a broader ecosystem through One UI 8.

He concluded by stating that Samsung’s next phase will focus on AI-centric design and software updates tailored for foldables, aiming to enrich the overall AI-powered user experience.
