LG Energy Solution announced on Thursday that its Better.Re (Battery) Solution clinched an innovation award in the advanced mobility category at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026. This groundbreaking achievement marks the first time a battery company has secured a CES innovation award solely for software technology.
The Battery Solution is a cutting-edge technology that decelerates battery degradation and predicts potential anomalies in advance, effectively doubling battery life. This innovative solution was developed using LG Energy Solution’s proprietary battery life prediction algorithm, which incorporates an impressive 1.2 billion kilometers (about 745 million miles) of real-world driving data, along with diverse driving information such as charging patterns and parking habits.
The Battery Solution employs two distinct approaches: customer-guided and controlled. The customer-guided approach offers tailored life management guides based on 16 user behavior factors, optimizing battery performance by encouraging improved driver habits.
Users can access detailed reports on the Battery Artificial Intelligence (AI) Degradation Analysis through mobile apps, including LG Energy Solution’s comprehensive battery management service, B-Lifecare.
The controlled approach takes a proactive stance in managing battery life. By implementing this technology, users can potentially extend the point at which battery life drops below 70% by up to two times. This versatile technology also has applications in various Battery as a Service (BaaS) ventures, including used electric vehicle transactions and battery swap stations (BSS).
Lee Dal-hoon, head of the battery management system (BMS) development group at LG Energy Solution, emphasized that they are committed to enhancing customer value and bolstering our competitive edge in the BaaS sector through advanced longevity management technologies, including degradation prediction and safety diagnostics.
Since 2009, LG Energy Solution has been a powerhouse in the industry, supplying over 8 billion battery cells for approximately 15 million electric vehicles (EVs).
