Samsung Display is set to unveil its cutting-edge organic light-emitting diode (OLED) technology at MWC26, the world’s premier information and communication exhibition, in Barcelona, Spain. The four-day event, starting Monday, will showcase OLED as an interface and component solution optimized for artificial intelligence (AI) edge computing.

The company’s booth, themed Intel Corporation Regent OLED City, is divided into four distinct areas: AI Square, AI Edge District, AI Entertainment District, and AI Sports District. This marks Samsung Display’s fourth consecutive year at MWC.

The spotlight of the exhibition is on Flex Magic Pixel (FMP), a display-integrated privacy protection technology. Samsung Display will showcase the Galaxy S26 Ultra featuring FMP technology, along with demo products highlighting partial privacy protection capabilities.

FMP is a groundbreaking technology that controls light diffusion at the pixel level, ensuring clear visuals from the front while obscuring the display from side angles. This innovation builds upon LEAD™, the world’s first commercialized low-power, high-brightness technology introduced in 2021.

The Flex Magic Pixel technology was perfected through the successful development of a multi-shading structure, which intricately arranges black matrices (BM). At MWC, Samsung Display is actively promoting LEAD 2.0™, which integrates FMP with LEAD™.

Visitors to the AI Sports District can experience the impressive durability of foldable OLEDs firsthand. An automatic golf putting machine allows guests to test the resilience of foldable panels by using a foldable smartphone as the target hole.

The exhibition also features a basketball shooting demonstration to showcase durability. Eighteen foldable smartphones are attached to a basketball backboard, with a robotic arm launching basketballs to conduct impact tests.

The AI Edge District presents a range of futuristic OLED edge devices, including new concept products not previously revealed at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

One such innovation is the Mini Pet Bot, a small companion robot concept featuring a 1.34-inch OLED face display. This clever device uses voice and touch interfaces to communicate with users and demonstrate AI capabilities, with its circular OLED screen conveying a range of expressions.

The AI Entertainment District offers a mixed reality (MR) experience where visitors can enjoy a personalized K-pop concert using Samsung Display’s Red, Green, Blue Organic Light-Emitting Diode on Silicon (RGB OLEDoS) technology. OLEDoS represents a leap in display technology, featuring ultra-high-resolution screens composed of microscopic pixels on silicon wafers.

The exhibition showcases an MR demo headset equipped with a 1.4-inch RGB OLEDoS display boasting an astounding 5000 PPI (pixels per inch). This ultra-high-resolution experience far surpasses the typical 400-500 PPI found in today’s top-tier smartphones.

Inspired by Barcelona’s iconic Park Güell, a Bezel-less OLED Wall demonstrates Samsung’s ultra-slim bezel technology. This impressive display combines two 6.8-inch OLEDs and two 27-inch quantum dot (QD)-OLEDs in a seamless mosaic, creating an almost borderless visual experience.

Kim Tae-woo, Vice President of Strategic Marketing at Samsung Display’s Small and Medium Business Division, emphasized the evolving role of displays in the AI era. He noted that screens are becoming intelligent, personalized platforms capable of understanding and interacting with users and their environments. Kim predicted that the introduction of FMP technology would drive more consumers and clients to choose Samsung OLED displays.
