Onyou Tech has unveiled its groundbreaking Artificial Intelligence (AI) Power Saver technology, capable of reducing electricity consumption by up to 50% without the need to replace existing light-emitting diode (LED) fixtures. The company is urging the government and public institutions to adopt this innovative solution promptly.

According to Onyou Tech’s announcement on Wednesday, implementing the AI Power Saver technology nationwide could result in electricity savings of 5.7 GW, equivalent to 84 TWh annually. This potential reduction, comparable to the output of five nuclear power plants, has captured significant attention within the industry due to its ability to secure substantial power reserves in a short timeframe.

At the heart of the AI Power Saver technology lies the intelligent lighting control system (AI LED controller), which combines AI sensors with dimming converters.

This cutting-edge system detects incoming natural light in real-time, automatically adjusting brightness for immediate energy conservation. Furthermore, it actively regulates illumination based on motion detection frequency, yielding additional energy savings. The technology has evolved to achieve maximum efficiency by simultaneously supporting daytime natural light detection and nighttime motion sensing.

Onyou Tech emphasizes that this technology also contributes to resource conservation by minimizing the environmental impact associated with large-scale fixture disposal and carbon emissions during replacement processes.

The effectiveness of Onyou Tech’s AI Power Saver has been demonstrated at over 30 institutions, consistently exceeding energy-saving targets. Notable examples include Seoul National University’s Energy Center (40% reduction), Jeon-ui Elementary School in Sejong City (53% reduction), and a logistics center (65% reduction).

In 2025, the Greenhouse Gas and Energy Center at Seoul National University’s Institute for Sustainable Development will establish test beds in five university buildings to continuously collect real-time data. The technology has already proven its ability to surpass energy-saving targets across diverse environments, including schools, offices, and public institutions.

In light of the rapidly increasing power demand driven by AI industry expansion, Onyou Tech is advocating for early mandatory adoption by government and public institutions.

The company proposes prioritizing and mandating AI Power Saver implementation in government buildings, public institutions, local government offices, and K-12 schools. This initiative could swiftly achieve an initial electricity savings of 500 MW.

Additionally, Onyou Tech recommends establishing subsidy programs to encourage private sector adoption and strengthening national energy security measures to realize large-scale electricity savings in the near term.
