Samsung Electronics’ 2026 artificial intelligence (AI)-powered refrigerator is making waves in the tech world, garnering praise from major U.S. and European media outlets. The appliance is turning heads with its advanced AI-based ingredient management features, solidifying Samsung’s position in the smart home market.
Samsung revealed on Tuesday that their Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerator, which hit the Korean market in March, boasts an upgraded AI Vision feature. This cutting-edge tech can identify an extensive range of fresh and processed foods, paving the way for smart ingredient management, tailored recipe suggestions, and even shopping list recommendations.
In a nod to its innovation, Tom’s Guide, a leading U.S. tech publication, honored the Samsung Bespoke AI Family Hub in its AI Awards 2026 for the smart home, appliances, and security categories.
The publication lauded the fridge’s impressive ability to accurately identify ingredients, crediting the synergy between Samsung’s vision AI and Google’s Gemini generative AI. From distinguishing between avocados and zucchinis to differentiating regular and diet sodas, the appliance leverages stored ingredient data to craft personalized meal plans and shopping lists.
But that’s not all – the smart fridge also helps reduce food waste by alerting users to ingredients nearing expiration. Plus, it seamlessly integrates into daily life with features like weather updates and music playback.
Across the pond, British tech authority T3 singled out the Bespoke AI Family Hub as the sole large appliance among nine kitchen products designed to combat food waste.
T3 highlighted the fridge’s use of internal cameras and AI to track ingredient inventory and expiration dates, complete with timely alerts. The outlet also gave a thumbs up to the appliance’s ability to suggest recipes based on available ingredients.
Stateside, Engadget marveled at the expanded range of ingredients the fridge can now recognize – from about 100 to over 2,000 – bringing it closer to a truly practical kitchen management solution.
The tech site also praised additional features like product status checks and remote diagnostics via the Bixby voice assistant, as well as data-driven pre-diagnosis capabilities for potential malfunctions.
Business Insider chimed in, likening the fridge’s AI vision technology to a personal shopping assistant.
The 2026 Bespoke AI Family Hub comes in a sleek clean white finish. The freestanding model, boasting a generous 32-inch touchscreen, retails for 5.84 million KRW (about 3,860 USD), while the more compact kitchen-fit version with a 9-inch display and KitchenFit Max design comes in at 4.64 million KRW (about 3,070 USD).
It’s worth noting that since debuting the Family Hub refrigerator in 2016, Samsung Electronics has consistently impressed at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the world’s premier tech showcase, snagging a total of 10 innovation awards to date.
