SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won has been actively strengthening the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure competitiveness by meeting with key players in the global AI ecosystem during his visit to Taiwan.
SK Hynix’s newsroom reported that on Wednesday, Chairman Chey met with Foxconn Chairman Liu Young-way and other executives in Taipei to discuss expanding collaboration in next-generation AI infrastructure.
Earlier in his Taiwan trip, Chey also held meetings with Jensen Huang NVIDIA Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and Mark Liu TSMC Chairman. As the AI industry’s focus expands beyond semiconductors to encompass broader infrastructure like servers and data centers, Chey is personally overseeing partnerships with these global tech giants.
Foxconn, the world’s largest contract electronics manufacturer, is a major supplier of AI servers to global tech behemoths. With the AI server market experiencing explosive growth, Foxconn has emerged as a key player in the AI infrastructure sector.
SK Group, spearheaded by SK Hynix, has established a strong foothold in AI semiconductor technology, particularly in high-bandwidth memory (HBM). The company is also accelerating its efforts to develop crucial infrastructure for the AI era. As the AI industry becomes more sophisticated, the need for seamless integration across semiconductors, servers, and systems grows, highlighting the potential for synergy between SK Group and Foxconn.
The two companies also explored potential collaborations beyond AI, including robotics, energy management, and battery technology. They aim to leverage SK Group’s energy expertise and Foxconn’s manufacturing and systems integration prowess to unlock new business opportunities in these emerging fields.
