KT announced on Thursday that it will showcase its cutting-edge quantum cryptography technology at Quantum Korea 2026.

This prominent domestic quantum technology event, hosted by the Ministry of Science and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and others, will run for three days starting Thursday at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul.

KT has prepared an exhibition under the theme Where the Quantum Future Begins.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore quantum cryptography technologies, including Post-Quantum Cryptography and Quantum Key Distribution.

Post-Quantum Cryptography is a next-generation encryption method designed to withstand decryption attempts, even with the advent of quantum computers. Quantum Key Distribution ensures secure transmission of cryptographic keys, making hacking virtually impossible.

KT will provide an overview of its quantum cryptography technology and introduce a range of Quantum Key Distribution equipment produced by leading domestic manufacturers. The exhibition will also showcase KT’s current capabilities in both wired and wireless quantum key distribution technologies.

Last year, KT independently developed a wired Quantum Key Distribution technology operating at 300 kbps. The company is now enhancing this technology to generate and transmit larger volumes of cryptographic keys more rapidly.

Furthermore, KT has developed technology to transmit quantum cryptography in wireless environments. The company is currently working on expanding the operational distance beyond 10 kilometers (about 6.2 miles).

The company will also present real-world applications of its quantum cryptography services across various sectors, including public administration, finance, and defense. These include cases of Post-Quantum Cryptography applied to key defense systems, a demonstration of interconnecting heterogeneous quantum cryptography between Seoul and Busan, and the quantum security network led by Shinhan Bank.

On July 3, during an exhibition session at the main stage of the DDP Art Hall 1, KT will give a presentation titled, Towards the Quantum Internet.

This presentation will cover KT’s quantum cryptography technology, its capabilities, future plans, and its vision for leading the quantum internet.

Meanwhile, SK Telecom will also unveil next-generation quantum cryptography technologies and solutions at Quantum Korea 2026, focusing on Next-Generation Quantum Security for the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and 6G Era. They will showcase advanced technologies such as Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC)-based Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and PIC-based Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG) technology.
