LS Electric is accelerating its global market expansion by ramping up production of power conversion systems (PCS) for next-generation energy storage systems (ESS).

The company held a ceremony on Wednesday at its DC factory in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, to mark the initial shipment of its next-generation PCS, dubbed G2. Chairman Koo Ja-kyun and other executives were in attendance.

During the event, Chairman Koo personally inspected the G2 production line and reviewed production and quality control processes.

Koo emphasized that the Cheonan DC factory is a crucial outpost showcasing LS Electric’s technological prowess across the direct current ecosystem. It aims to secure leadership in the DC era and spearhead the global ESS market through impeccable quality.

The G2, designed for global markets, employs water-cooling technology, enhancing heat management and durability compared to traditional air-cooled systems. Its compact design maximizes power efficiency even in confined spaces.

Production of the G2 takes place at the Cheonan DC factory, the world’s first fully DC-powered manufacturing facility. The plant incorporates DC-specific core equipment, including semiconductor transformers (SST), semiconductor circuit breakers (SSCB), and ESS. LS Electric reports that the DC distribution system has boosted the factory’s overall energy efficiency by over 10%.

With the global ESS market experiencing rapid growth due to increased power demands from artificial intelligence (AI) data centers and wider adoption of renewable energy, LS Electric plans to intensify its market strategies, particularly in North America.

An LS Electric spokesperson stated that it’s committed to aggressively expanding the global market presence in response to the growth of global power infrastructure and the shift towards DC technology.

In related news, LS Electric reported record-breaking second-quarter results, with sales of 1.577 trillion KRW (approximately 1.1 billion USD) and an operating profit of 178.5 billion KRW (about 125.7 million USD).
