Samsung Asset Management Rebrands ETF to Simplify Investor Understanding

TechSamsung Asset Management Rebrands ETF to Simplify Investor Understanding

Samsung Asset Management announced on Friday that it will change its name of exchange-traded fund (ETF) from “KODEX U.S. Semiconductor MV” to “KODEX U.S. Semiconductor.”

This change excludes the index name so that investors can intuitively understand the product. The fund’s management strategy and underlying index will remain unchanged.

KODEX U.S. Semiconductor invests in prominent global semiconductor companies listed in the United States. It tracks the same MV semiconductor index as the VanEck Vectors Semiconductor ETF (SMH), the world’s largest semiconductor ETF, worth approximately 33 billion won ($23 million).

The fund offers comprehensive investment in 25 major U.S. semiconductor companies and allows individual stock allocations of up to 20%, enhancing the potential impact of leading stocks.

Han Dong Hoon, a portfolio manager at Samsung Asset Management, stated, “This rebranding will help investors grasp the fund’s purpose more easily. We aim to establish our product as the representative semiconductor investment in Korea, just as how SMH has become the industry standard in the U.S. market.”
