Fast Company, a leading American technology and business magazine, has named Coupang the second most innovative retail company in the world for 2025. The company was highly praised for its explosive growth and bold investments in cutting-edge technology.

Coupang announced on Wednesday that it had secured second place in the retail sector on Fast Company‘s list of the most innovative companies in 2025.

Fast Company selects 609 companies with the most groundbreaking business achievements in the past year across 58 sectors, including automotive, robotics, electronics, and beauty. Coupang was chosen as one of the top 10 innovative retail companies companies, alongside industry leaders such as J.Crew (1st), IKEA (3rd), and Amazon (8th).

Fast Company praised Coupang’s one-stop e-commerce model, seamlessly integrating Rocket Fresh, Coupang Play, Wow Membership, and free shipping benefits to foster customer loyalty. The magazine also emphasized that Coupang’s meticulously developed logistics infrastructure over the past 15 years has driven the company’s explosive growth.

The report also highlighted Coupang’s strategic acquisition of Farfetch, the British luxury e-commerce platform that had previously struggled to profit. Under Coupang’s management, Farfetch reached its break-even point last year. In Korea, Coupang launched R.lux, an innovative application offering same-day delivery for luxury products.

Notably, Coupang’s financial performance was highly praised. While its overall revenue grew by 24% over the past year, growth businesses like Farfetch and Coupang Eats saw a staggering 296% increase.

Coupang has invested billions of dollars in building an end-to-end technology operation infrastructure, integrating cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and custom robotics. Over the past several years, the company has consistently expanded its innovative services.

The company boasts an impressive service offering: customers can place orders until midnight to deliver millions of products, including fresh food, by early the following day. Coupang Eats provides unlimited free delivery from restaurants, while Coupang Play offers exclusive access to free streaming media and live entertainment events.

Harshal Wanjari, Coupang’s Vice President of Engineering, explained, “Our machine learning and AI systems process trillions of predictions daily, optimizing operations across search, payment, and fulfillment.” He emphasized that Coupang’s technological investments have created a unique model that drives success for hundreds of thousands of small business partners and millions of customers worldwide. Coupang owns more than 2,100 global patents, which has tripled over the past four years.

Fast Company previously selected Coupangd as the second most innovative company in the Asia-Pacific region in 202y. At the end of last month, LexisNexis, a leading American patent analysis firm, named it one of the Top 100 Global Innovative Companies for 2025.
