North Korea emphasized to its officials and party members the importance of completing the five-year national economic development plan, established in 2021, on schedule.

The Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of the North Korean Workers’ Party, reported on Thursday that the struggle to fulfill the five-year plan presented at the 8th Party Congress is intensifying day by day in the second half of this year.

The newspaper stated that the people’s economic plan is essentially a Party decision and an absolute command that must be executed without fail by the deadline. It urged officials to remain vigilant and motivated to prevent even minor deviations in implementing Party decisions on a weekly and monthly basis, and emphasized the need to deepen efforts to create and disseminate exemplary practices.

On the front page, the newspaper highlighted that the coal industry is accelerating the construction of new mines and tunnels to adequately meet coal demand. The third page reported that officials from the Nampo City Party Committee are effectively operating the Friday Science and Technology Learning System. It stressed that mastering modern science and technology is an essential secondary skill for officials as emphasized by the Party.

On the fifth page, it was reported that the Pyongyang Film Technology Company is addressing scientific and technological challenges through its own efforts. The article also mentioned that new cultural and recreational centers have been established in Hoeryong-si. In Songchon-dong, which is being developed as a model village, now features facilities that combine exercise and relaxation, including a badminton court, table tennis courts, and areas for traditional games such as janggi and yutnori.
